What To Wear To Your Family Photoshoot

The family photoshoot is booked and you are excited to finally get some gorgeous photos of you, your kids, your family.

Other than making sure the kids have clean clothes and faces, which outfits can help you maximise your chances of getting great photos?

First and Most Importantly.
1. Comfort - wear clothes which make you feel comfortable, and make sure your kids are comfortable and happy.

The first thing you will remember when you look at your photos is how you felt when they were being taken. So ensure you are wearing clothes that you good in, as well as comfortable and happy.

2. Neutrals & Muted Colours / light patterns / no logos or prints

When taking portraits, I want to keep the focus on the face and remove any distractions.
If you have a 3 year old that insists on wearing a spiderman outfit every day, a husband that prefers to only were t-shirts with Nike logos or a wife that dresses always in black and that’s their style, I’d say ignore this rule and go back to rule no. 1 - as long as people are comfortable, I am happy
However if you have in the cupboard, clothes without logos and heavy patterns - they really can bring out the best in a portrait.

3. Co-ordinate colours but don’t dress identically.

As cute as matching outfits are, they can be distracting and also date a photo quite easily. Check out colour wheels on-line as well as Pinterest for colours that complement each other and would co ordinate well and seasonal inspiration.

4.Make up, Hair and Nails.

If you regularly have your hair and nails done, or you just love an excuse to treat yourself, this is a great opportunity to book an appointment! Maybe bring a brush on the day to be able to smarten kids up if needed.
