”The More Families Use Playgrounds, The More Children Will Benefit And The More Councils Will Invest In Them”
Hello! If are you here because you want to know more about me and why I am writing playground reviews, read on! (If you actually wanted to read more about my Family Photography work You Need To Be Here!)
I was born and raised in London and stayed there for most of my life until me and the family moved in 2019 to Winchester, Hampshire. My family consists of husband Andrew, and two daughters who are as of summer 2020, aged 5 and almost 4.
Before I started my photography business I had a long career working with children and families in a variety of different settings. From that I have a passion for seeing children being able to access the quality care and resources they deserve. Growing up in London, made me especially aware of how good it is to have access to playgrounds and natural space.
Public Playgrounds are free to all and provide many many benefits to children. Including:
_ Being able to engage in imaginative play which helps them make sense of the world around them.
_ Increase confidence as they practice on different apparatus.
_ Gross Motor Skills, grow stronger, be healthier,
_ Problem Solving Skills
_ Social Skills, as they can interact with other children from different backgrounds.
_ Helps parents meet other parents, and become connected. This will help the mental health of the whole family.
So this is how I hope it works.
1. I share reviews
2. People find the review and it makes the playground more accessible to them.
3. Their children benefit.
You will notice the playground reviews are set to a high standard, I truly believe all children deserve the best and where playgrounds don’t meet the standards that they should I will point that out, (I also contact the council and let them know).
We don’t have a car (was raised in London, have got used to not having one!) and so can only visit locations in public transport distance of Winchester, I am currently doing all the playground reviews in my own time with my kids and stating what I see, if you think I may have missed something, do let me know in a nice sort of way. And I’ll look into updating that entry.
Hopefully at some point in the post Covid-19 world, I will be able to add reviews from other towns and cities that we visit.
