Where would you spend a special birthday?

For my 40th Birthday in July, whilst my daughters were safely ensconced with their grandparents, my husband treated me to a delicious meal at The Pig in Brockenhurst, New Forest.

The New Forest is such a beautiful part of the country we have not seen much of yet so I was really excited to soak in some real country air.

A while ago I mostly gave up red meat, now eating it once every few months. so I had the challenge of choosing what to eat at a restaurant called The Pig, happily they did have non red meat options and I went with the salmon dish.

The atmosphere of The Pig is just lovely, the service very attentive and the decoration - just beautiful. I am a sucker for pretty floors and between the tiles and the parquet, I had a hard time remembering to look at my husband sometimes.

The food was delicious, and I imagine every single dish there is, all the ingredients are sourced from within 20 miles which made it even more delicious.

The best bit about The Pig though, is the grounds, you can have a little walk or sit in the giant swing and enjoy the peace. One day when the budget allows, I plan to come back and enjoy the hotel too.
